Caleb Hendrickson

College Advising Fellow, The University of Virginia

Caleb Hendrickson has been part of the UVA community for the past ten years, first as a doctoral student in Religious Studies then as an instructor and Advising Fellow. He has also taught Religious Studies and advised undergraduate students at Carleton College in Minnesota. In his own experience as a research scholar, he has learned that knowledge is something discovered, met with curiosity and surprise. He understands discovery to be the goal of a great liberal arts education and approach advising with this goal in mind. He finds it a privilege to accompany students as they encounter the challenges and excitements of college learning, and in the process discover something about who they are. Caleb greatly enjoys discovering the interests, talents, and gifts that each student brings to UVA. He appreciates getting to know students through individual advising and through the Engagements seminars that he regularly teaches, including a course on contemporary image culture (Living with Images) and a course concerning the importance of play in human development and culture (The Way We Play).
