Abigail Snyder
Program Assistant - wjc3eu@virginia.edu
Abigail Snyder is a first-year PhD student in the Judaism and Christianity in Antiquity subfield of Religious Studies. Her research will focus on the texts and material culture of the earliest rabbinic period, known as the tannaitic period (70–200 CE). Specifically, she's interested in reconstructing how the ancient rabbis fashioned a distinct culture after the destruction of the Second Temple, drawing from both their biblical legal heritage and the Greco-Roman cultural environment. Abigail holds an MA in Religious Studies from UVA and a BA in English from Hillsdale College. In addition to being a program assistant for the Jewish Studies Program, Abigail is a Mark J. Friedman Family Graduate Fellow.
