Eyal Handelsman Katz

PhD Candidate, English

Eyal is a doctoral student in the English department at UVa currently working on African American and Jewish American literature, memory and trauma, critical race theory, and food studies. Born in Israel but having spent most of his years living in Spain, Eyal holds a BA in English Studies, and MAs in both Advanced English Studies and Secondary Education from the University of Valencia. A former Institute for the Recruitment of Teachers associate, he also completed an MA in Intercultural Communication from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with the support of a Fulbright grant. Within the field of Jewish Studies, he is particularly interested in narrative representations of Jewish American (post)memory in the aftermath of the Holocaust.
