Friends of Jewish Studies

Jewish Studies at UVA exists because of the longstanding partnership between the University and generous alumni and community supporters.

$25 Million for 25 Years Capital Campaign

In the fall of 2025, UVA Jewish Studies celebrated its 25th anniversary with a series of seminars, panels, dinners, and other events for faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and community members. During the celebration, Director Jennifer Geddes announced the $25 Million for 25 Years Capital Campaign, which seeks to support highly sought after initiatives such as:

  • professorships in Holocaust Studies, American Jewish life, Israel studies, Yiddish studies, and modern Hebrew literature
  • graduate fellowships
  • opportunities for undergraduate students to engage with faculty, conduct research, and enhance their learning in the field of Jewish Studies

Annual Fund

Contributions to the Jewish Studies Annual Fund support a variety of needs, such as:

  • enriching undergraduate student life
  • supporting graduate education
  • developing curricula
  • supporting faculty research
  • endowing a lecture series
  • or sustaining other opportunities.
