About Us
Welcome to Jewish Studies at the University of Virginia
We are an interdisciplinary program drawing on more than thirty affiliated scholars from religious studies, history, anthropology, sociology, literature, music and other fields. Our aim is to study and teach the Jewish experience through space and time, as well as train the next generation of scholars and provide academic programs for students and the larger public.
We offer a Jewish Studies major and minor in a thriving undergraduate environment, as well as master's and doctoral degrees through the Religious Studies and History departments. We also host graduate and undergraduate fellows programs for students of any discipline interested in Jewish Studies.
UVA Jewish Studies is committed to supporting and interconnecting its community of teachers and students. If you're a current student, alumni, or faculty member with personal news to share about your work in the field of Jewish Studies, please fill out our News Submission form.
