Ben Aronson

PhD Candidate, Material Science & Engineering

Benjamin is currently working towards his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Virginia. His research is focused on the synthesis of novel thin film materials for microelectronics applications. Currently, he is focusing his time on atomic layer deposition – a fabrication technique that can deposit thin films one atomic layer at a time – which is an industry standard fabrication method for next-generation electronics requiring thickness accuracy down to the atomic scale. Before coming to UVA, Benjamin attended Penn State and obtained a bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering. Benjamin was heavily involved with Hillel at Penn State, regularly attending events as well as serving as the undergraduate social chair for two years. Following this, Benjamin has continued learning about Jewish culture and history in his free time. Benjamin enjoys a variety of hobbies including reading, running, cooking, pickleball, and playing the ukulele.
