Nau Hall Directions

This page contains a map, as well as list of directions for accessing Nau-Gibson Hall from the Central Grounds or Culbreth garages. Scroll past the map for a list of directions.

Nau Hall Map

Directions to Nau Hall room 101 (1540 Jefferson Park Ave.) from Central Grounds Parking Garage (400 Emmet St. S)

  1. Take the stairs or elevator to the top floor of Central Grounds Garage
  2. Walk past the UVA Bookstore and come out facing Newcomb Hall
  3. Take a right and go up the stairwell that skirts the outside of Newcomb Hall
  4. Continue past the Newcomb dining hall and Starbucks entrance up the brick path to the next stairwell, and emerge in the Newcomb courtyard facing Monroe Hall
  5. Continue straight from the stairwell across the courtyard towards the sidewalk that runs to the left of Monroe Hall. Follow this sidewalk until you reach McCormick Road
  6. Cross McCormick to the sidewalk in front of UVA's West Range of Lawn rooms. Continue to the right down the sidewalk until you emerge at the UVA Amphitheatre
  7. Follow the sidewalk down towards the Amphitheatre and continue straight down the sidewalk with the Amphitheatre on your left and Minor Hall on your right
  8. Continue down the sidewalk until you emerge in front of Halsy Hall (with the anchors out front)
  9. Turn left down the stairwell and across the road (Amphitheatre Way) and continue straight down the sidewalk between the houses on Dawson's Row
  10. Take the stairwell at the end of Dawson's Row down straight onto the sidewalk that will take you past New Cabell Hall on your left
  11. Follow this sidewalk straight until you emerge at the UVA South Lawn field. Turn right on the sidewalk and continue straight towards Nau/Gibson Hall (the building with the column awning and labyrinth out front)
  12. Enter the main, glass doors and take the stairwell down to the first floor
  13. Turn right at the bottom of the stairwell and go through the opening into the Nau 101 lobby (where the water fountain and men's room are located)
  14. Enter the big wooden doors into Nau Hall 101

 

ADA Accessible Directions to Nau Hall room 101 (1540 Jefferson Park Ave.) from Central Grounds Parking Garage (400 Emmet St. S)

  1. Take the stairs or elevator to the top floor of Central Grounds Garage
  2. Walk past the UVA Bookstore and come out facing Newcomb Hall
  3. Take a right and go around the upward stairwell onto the paved road. Then turn left and follow the sidewalk parallel to the stairwell
    1. If the road is too steep, you may also enter Newcomb Hall and ride the elevator to the second floor. Emerge from the elevator and head right out the glass doors onto the brick patio and continue with the directions below
  4. Emerge on the brick patio outside the Newcomb dining hall and Starbucks entrance. Across from these entrances, take the ramp up to the Newcomb courtyard facing Monroe Hall
  5. Continue straight left across the courtyard towards the sidewalk that veers to the left of Monroe Hall. Follow this sidewalk until you reach McCormick Road
  6. Cross McCormick to the sidewalk in front of the UVA's West Range of Lawn rooms. Continue to the right down the sidewalk until you emerge at the UVA Amphitheatre with Garret Hall on your left
  7. Take a left to follow the sidewalk past Garret Hall on your left and the Amphitheatre on your right until you can see the Homer statue across from the Rotunda
  8. Turn right to follow the sidewalk past Cocke Hall on your right and walk towards the white, columned awning to the side of Old Cabell Hall. Directly ahead is the western wing of New Cabell Hall
  9. Go under the awning to enter New Cabell Hall and continue straight down the main hallway until it turns to the left past the elevator doors.
  10. Take the elevator to the first floor of New Cabell. Exit the elevator and continue down the hallway to your right until you see the double glass doors labeled "Middle Eastern & South Asian Languages & Cultures"
  11. Go through these doors and to the back of this lobby. Turn left and exit through the ADA accessible door
  12. Go up the incline to the sidewalk and go to your right until you emerge in front of the UVA South Lawn field with Nau Hall at the other end on your left (the building with the column awning and labyrinth out front)
  13. Follow the sidewalk to Nau and enter through the single glass door on the left with an automatic open button
  14. Enter Nau Hall and proceed to the elevator doors on your right
  15. Ride to the first floor and go out of the elevator to your left towards the back of the large, central stairwell
  16. Enter the covered lobby where the water fountain and women's restroom are — directly adjacent to the first-floor main doorway
  17. Nau 101 is through the wooden door in this lobby

 

Directions to Nau Hall room 101 (1540 Jefferson Park Ave.) from Culbreth Garage (130 Culbreth Rd.)

  1. Exit the parking garage and continue straight down Culbreth road past the soccer field towards University Avenue
  2. Cross over University Avenue to the opposite sidewalk, and continue to your left past the tennis courts and Shannon (formerly Alderman) Library
  3. Continue on the sidewalk past Shannon Library onto McCormick Road. Cross McCormick towards the chapel and continue on that sidewalk to your right past the West Range Lawn rooms
  4. Continue down that sidewalk until the West Range rooms end and you emerge at the UVA Amphitheatre
    1. Refer to ADA Accessible direction #7 onwards if you need an ADA Accessible route 
  5. Follow the sidewalk down towards the Amphitheatre and continue straight down the sidewalk with the Amphitheatre on your left and Minor Hall on your right
  6. Continue down the sidewalk until you emerge in front of Halsy Hall (with the anchors out front)
