Difficult Pasts Poster

In March, UVA Jewish Studies will co-host a series of panels grappling with difficult histories, namely those of Northern Ireland, the Holocaust, and U.S. slavery. On Monday, March 17, a public forum will be hosted in the Newcomb South Meeting Room in which four different panels will discuss these difficult pasts, overlooked voices, family histories, and data ethics. The forum is open to the public via registration. To learn more, visit the event page.

These "Dealing with Difficult Pasts" events are co-hosted by several other UVA organizations as well, including The Americas Center, Corcoran Department of History, Department of African American and American Studies, and the Aesthetics of Democracy Working Group of the Karsh Institute of Democracy. Additionally, the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Centre for Public History at Queen’s University Belfast will co-host. This project is supported by the Page-Barbour and Richards Lecture Committee.
