Natasha Roth-Rowland

Ph.D. Student (Department of History)

I am a doctoral student in the history of Israel-Palestine, focusing on the Jewish far-right in Israel-Palestine and the U.S., nationalism (in particular religious nationalism), and intra-Jewish ethnic relations. More broadly, I am interested in issues of ethnic conflict, violence, and the intersections of race, gender, and religion in nationalist and right-wing discourses.

Prior to joining UVA's History PhD program, I spent several years living in Israel-Palestine, working as a translator and breaking news editor for various news outlets, and reporting from the West Bank and Jerusalem. I am a blogger and former associate editor at +972 Magazine, and my work has also been published in the London Review of Books Blog, Haaretz, the Forward, and the Daily Beast.

I was born in Belgium and brought up in the U.K.
