UVA Professor Emerita and former Jewish Studies Director Vanessa Ochs was recently quoted in the Jewish Telegraphic Agency on the rise of swanky, secular, pop-up Sabbath dinners in New York City. Professor Ochs noted that these events, although taking place outside of traditional synagogue communities, are still connecting Jews to “very old traditional practices…[and] their families.”
