Last week, around twenty-five Rachel Winer Manin Jewish Studies Graduate Fellows, faculty members, and friends of the program enjoyed a catered dinner followed by a research presentation and discussion.
Ayala Gidron, a PhD student at Bar-Ilan University in Israel who is studying at the College of William & Mary for the academic year, presented some of her dissertation research. Specifically, she proposed that Augustine's concept of "love of neighbor" might serve as a foundation for Hannah Arendt's understanding of "radical good."
Special guest Dr. Randi Rashkover, Professor and Director of Judaic Studies at William & Mary, served as the respondent, posing thoughtful questions and engaging with many of the Jewish Studies Graduate Fellows who added to the discussion.
