Beth Epstein

Professor of Nursing

Beth Epstein received her BS in biochemistry from the University of Rochester and her MS in pharmacology, BSN, and PhD in nursing from the University of Virginia. She is a Professor at the University of Virginia School of Nursing and School of Medicine Center for Health Humanities and Ethics where she teaches ethics and pharmacology. Her program of research centers moral distress and ethical issues, especially as related to healthcare organizational factors. Beth is an active member of the UVA Health System’s Ethics Consult Service and directs the Moral Distress Consult Service. She serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in 2017.
