The Herbert Friedman Collection Now on Display at UVA Libraries

The Herbert Friedman Collection is now on display as part of the “ABCs of the UVA Library” exhibit, which showcases the UVA Library’s rich and assorted collections and highlights the staff who make those materials discoverable and accessible. The display will be on view in the Small Special Collections Library through June 13, 2026.

The Friedman Collection was donated to UVA's Small Special Collections library earlier this year by UVA alumnus Mark Friedman, Herbert's son, to tell the story of his father's escape from the Holocaust. You can learn more about the collection here.

Mark Friedman also established the Herbert Friedman Graduate Fund for Holocaust Studies with UVA Jewish Studies in honor of his father. Learn more about the fund and its recipients here.
