UVA Jewish Studies will host University of California, Davis Professor of German and Comparative Literature Sven-Erik Rose on Thursday, February 12th at 5:30 PM. Location TBD. His lecture is entitled "Literature in the Warsaw, Lodz, and Vilna Ghettos".

About Sven-Erik Rose

Sven-Erik Rose is Professor of German and of Comparative Literature, and the Director of the Program in Jewish Studies, at the University of California, Davis. His first book, Jewish Philosophical Politics in Germany 1789–1848, was awarded the Jordan Schnitzer book Award from the Association for Jewish Studies in the category of Philosophy and Jewish Thought. He will be speaking about his most recent, book, Making and Unmaking Literature in the Warsaw, Lodz, and Vilna Ghettos, described as “the first scholarly account of the literature written in the ghettoes that takes it seriously as literature."
